Robert H Ellis
Robert H. Ellis received his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology from Florida State University in 1993 and his Juris Doctorate degree from St. Thomas University School of Law in 1998. While in law school Robert was a member of the Moot Court Board, competing in mock appellate proceedings against other law schools from around the nation, and received the Outstanding Competitor award. He began practicing law in 1998 as an Assistant Public Defender in Palatka, Florida handling hundreds of criminal cases. After leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Robert moved to a prestigious law firm in the Jacksonville area with over 400 attorneys where he defended civil lawsuits and represented a number of corporate clients, including several Fortune 500 corporations.
Robert has been rated “AV” Preeminent, the highest possible rating, by Martindale-Hubbel. He has also been recognized as one of the top lawyers of Northeast Florida by Jacksonville 904 Magazine in 2010 and 2011. Robert also has a “Superb” rating from Avvo attorney rating service.
Robert regularly volunteers both his legal services and his time to his community. He currently serves as a member of the Florida Bar member Benefits Committee and as a member of the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Professionalism Committee. He is also the Federation Chief for the YMCA Adventure Guides and Princess Program at the Winston YMCA in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.
During his free time, Robert spends time with his wife and two children in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. He also enjoys surfing, going to the gym, and golf, but is also an accomplished runner, having ranked 12th in the State of Florida (Four A Division) as a cross-country runner during high school and competing as an NCAA Division 1 athlete for the University of South Florida during college.
